There was an exceptionally good turn out on a
very wet and windy Sunday morning for Hillingdon Cycling Club's most
popular social event of the year, the Old Crocks and Ladies Invitation 10
Mile Time Trials held on the Great Missenden course. Many riders from far
and wide had accepted invitations to compete. Winners of both events are
decided on a handicap basis.First
off were the Ladies, and winner of this category was Jemma Rowlandson with
a time of 22.34. Tracey Jaquest came second in 23.47, Pauline Erodotou
third with 24.12. Jill Lawrence fourth in 24.50, Maggie Smith fifth in
25.25, Margaret Wright 6th in 25.34. Hillingdon's Connie May was 7th out
of the 12 competitors with 26.45.
In the Old Crocks' event, it was 83 year old
Ron Richardson who is a member of the Hounslow and District Wheelers who
came out on top with 20.55. Second place went to Ron Johnson in 22.34,
Roger Woolsey of the Westerley Road Club third with 23.09, Hillingdon's
Paul Marchant was fourth in 23.25, Alan Gallacher 5th in 24.00 and Jim
Mackay sixth in 24.03. There were 19 entrants in this category.
The Club 10 Mile Championship for 2008 was
also decided on the morning. Current champion Graham Weeks retained this
championship again with his successful ride of 23.03 beating road racing
man Peter Jones who recorded 25.24. Roy May also rode and clocked
27.09 to take the Veterans on Age
Standard Trophy while wife Connie will receive the Ladies Championship
Cup.
