AGM: At Compass Theatre, Ickenham on Tuesday 23rd February at 8.00pm

Saturday was a busy day for Hillingdon Cycling Club members when some of them attended the Veterans' Time Trialling Association's Annual Lunch and prize presentation at Aldenham Golf and Country Club, Aldenham. The club's champion for 2009 Graham Weeks who cycled from his home in Ascot to the venue was one of the prize recipients. Afterwards, he was back on his bike cycling to the Uxbridge Golf Club arriving in good time to attend the Club's 43rd Annual Dinner, Prize Presentation and Disco.

Mr Doug Collins, a cycle racing star of the 1950's and 1960's and now a top road racing commissaire gave a very interesting speech and proposed the toast to the club. Mrs Connie May, Club President of Chalfont St Peter responded and welcomed all the visitors. During her speech she presented the prestigious President's Cup to Simon Williams of Hazlemere for his special contribution in the running of the club during 2009.

Graham Weeks TT Champ

Mr Doug Collins presented prizes to Graham Weeks the main prize winner taking the club championship over a distance of 25, 50 and 100 miles with an average speed of 25.066 mph. He also won the Short Distance Championship over 10 and 25 miles with an average speed of 27.846 mph. He also won cups for being fastest at 10, 25, 50 and 100 miles as well as winning the John Sumner Memorial trophy. Peter Jones of Jordans received the Veterans; Road Race Cup while Scott Holmes took the Club Road Race Cup. Graham Pettitt won the Evening Points competition; the Best Improvement Short Distrance Championship and tied with Graham Weeks for the Ken Cumpper Memorial Shield. Brian Major retained the Club Runs and Marshalling Trophies. Connie May won the Ladies 10 Mile Championship and fastest ladies 10 mile cups. Clubman of the Year Cup went to Philip Burgin. The Jim Brooks Memorial Award. awarded for the first time to winner of 1st handicap in the Championship 10 miles was won by Peter Cross. The Consolation Cup went to Cecil Hambelton, he celebrated his 80th birthday in September by competing in the West London Cycling Association's 10 Mile Time Trial making him the eldest member ever to enter and race for the Hillingdon Cycling Club.

HCC Dinner
Members of the Hillingdon Cycling Club are looking forward to 2010 as a sponsored club. They have a new coach in Scott Holmes who has already started his special training days and fitness classes, full details can be seen on the Club's website. Members will now be seen riding in new club colours of black, red and white.
