U23 squad Blow out in the Thames Velo plus more Results

Sunday 11th Thames Velo rr 3-4 Cat

In this 15 mile Circuit on a very windy day Will Greg and Ant all started the race filling good with Greg riding his first race on the road. Will team captain took control at the head of the bunch as they came through the first Lap. Within a few minutes Will suffered a front wheel blow out and with a slow wheel change and with the service car zooming off that was his race over. Next and final Lap Greg was of the front with two other riders with around 15 secs on the bunch but they got caught 3 miles later. As the bunch finished 2 riders sprinted clear of the main field but no Greg. Yes you guessed it a front Wheel Blow out half way around the Lap and no sign of a service car. Chris Holmes came past 5 mins later to give him a wheel change so he could finish the race. Ant unfortunately had to pull out due to a knee injury. Unlucky Lads but better luck in the Banbury Star a few weeks’ time.

Veteran Scott Holmes rode the E-1-2 Event in the afternoon and finished 28th in this 80 mile event winning the bunch sprint. A large group of 12 riders broke clear on the 2nd Lap after an average Lap speed of 29 mph “crazy speed” and then another with a Lap to go
