Paul Egan goes faster again and seems to be improving
every week graham also put in a good ride getting closer to
Andy and Paul. Andy on paper should be going faster but
probably needs to do some intervals to bring his times down.
Also looking back at the results it looks like Paul my have
won the evening 10 competition this year

Great turn out from the club with 9 riders starting. The
squad stayed together for the first lap but whittled down to
5 soon after, finding it hard to live with the speed and
staying in the red.
With 700 Mtr's to go Andy Barnes punchered and limpid home
costing 20 secs as it is timed from the 5th rider.
Well done Graham Pettitt-Chris Holmes-Chris Bates-Will
Houghton-Scott Holmes-Andy Barnes-Paul Egan-Simon

VC10 TT on the F11/10 20th July
This seems to be the year for great comebacks, and tonight
saw former HCC "legend" Neil Broad explode onto the
racing scene with a tarmac sizzling ride! Conditions were
damp and calm for this new course and our brave gladiators
scorched round the Tring course to record some spectacular
times, Neils new skinsuit fitted him like a second skin so
much so he looked like a lycra clad superhero, Welcome back
Neil!

VC10 TT on the F11/10 22nd June
Some fast times have been done on this course so it
was time to try it out. With some hard days training and
racing I was not in the best shape. The event starts by the
Crows nest on the A41 Bypass and goes towards Tring
then turns back to the end of the Bypass towards Aylesbury
then back around another roundabout for the last 2 miles to
the Aston Clinton slip road.
Road surface not good for first 3 miles but then it is very
good.
Again a very windy night but in places you are sheltered
from the wind and on the descent after 3miles i clocked 40
mph against the wind and at the last turn the last 2 miles
with a tail wind I was above 30 mph. Time PB 21-33 using my
new found cadence info really helped
against the wind.

Windy evening yet again. Scott experimented with
cadence with 1st lap 85 Rpm, 2nd Lap
90 Rpm, 3 rd Lap 95 Rpm ,and last lap 100 Rpm. After
studying the results it seems that you are better at 85 Rpm
with the wind behind you pushing a bigger gear, But against
wind 95 Rpm is better to spin in a smaller gear and not
fight a big gear against the wind. I will put this into
practice tomorrow on the F11/10.

Hi there - Herewith our latest news:
At last the 2011 time trial season is now under way, and its
good to see some of Hillingdon Cycling Club's road racing
members testing their endurance further by competing against
the clock by riding time trials anything from 10 miles to
100 miles, and on Sunday the club were well represented in
the Veterans Time Trialling Association's London and Home
Counties Group's 10 mile time trial held on the Great
Missenden course. Club road racing champion, Scott Holmes
riding a brand new time trial bike did very well to record a
super time of 23.54 to take 5th place overall with team
mates Paul Egan recording 25.09 and Graham Pettitt 25.27.
Unfortunately Graham Weeks who had entered as it would have
been his last event before moving to France next week was
unable to participate. Other members of the Hillingdon were
out marshalling and helping with the organisation of the
event.
With many thanks for your continued support
Connie May

2010 Season
Western on the Green 10 31st Aug
Gregory Holmes riding his 2nd 10TT knocked over 2 mins of
his last time to ride a 30-50
Scott Holmes also beat his 2010 10 Time with 23-24.
Greg loved his ride and wants just to go faster and faster,
12 yrs old Greg I think he might just achieve this.
Club 10 Championship 22-08-10
Fastest man of the day and winner of the Club 10 Mile
Championship was popular Graham Weeks with a super time of

Hillingdon and a special presentation was made to him by Jim
Burgin. Graham and his family are moving to France very
shortly. Second claim member Philip Burgin was runner up in
the championship with 26.21.
05-08-10 Evening 10
Conditions a bit breezy on the Amersham road on Thursday but

Helen rode very well to achieve her 28 but said " I could

Looking at her HR average at 184bpm she worked very hard but
the windy conditions made it a hard slog. Weston is a
2.5 mile triangular circuit around an airfield which makes
it hard to get into a rytham.
Scott also bettered his first ride and shot up the leader
board to take 3rd.

After the spring like weather of late,
It was a shock to the system for members of the Hillingdon
Cycling Club when they turned out to help club mate Cecil
Hambleton promote a 10 mile time trial on behalf of the
Veterans' Time Trialling Association's, London & Home
Counties Group on the Maidenhead/Marlow course on Bank
Holiday Monday, the. weather turning quite wintry with heavy
showers throughout the event. The club had two
representatives taking part, Graham Pettitt who clocked
25.39 and Bill Gladwin 31.50.
On Saturday afternoon Cecil was himself in action when he
rode in the West London Cycling Association's 10 Mile Time
Trial at Newbury and clocked 30.31.
The previous Saturday saw Graham Weeks ride the Newbury
Cycling Club's open 25 mile time trial and did extremely
well to record a super time of 56.49. Bill Gladwin also rode
and clocked 1.17.20.
****************************************************
Hillingdon Cycling Club's Graham Weeks continues to improve
his 10 mile time for 2010. On Saturday in fairly good
conditions he competed in the Oxford City Cycling Club's
Open 10 Mile Time Trial on Oxfordshire roads and recorded a
super time of 22.19. The weather was a great improvement
compared with Good Friday when he rode in the High Wycombe
Cycling Club's Open 10 Mile Time Trial on the Maidenhead
course and clocked 23.40. Graham's comments on conditions
was "Absolutely horrible".
With many thanks for your co-operation and help.

************************************************
On Sunday morning Hillingdon Cycling Club's Roy May promoted
a 10 mile time trial on behalf of the Veterans Time
Trialling Association - London & Home Counties Group on the
Great Missenden / Wendover course. The event attracted some
good riders from far and wide. Conditions were fair for the
time of the year, and the course was well marshalled by
members of the Hillingdon Cycling Club who no doubt gave
their team mate, Graham Weeks riding in the club's new
colours of black, red and white, plenty of encouragement as
he raced around the course to record the fastest time of
23.33. Fastest rider on age standard went to Nikki Hunt who
rides for V.T.T.A. and who will receive the Dick Goodman Cup
at the Association's annual lunch next January for the
second year in succession for her time of 27.17.
With many thanks for your co-operation.

unfortunately due to road works the course was one mile
shorter than it should be! DOH !
PS I got beaten by Olympic gold meddle pursuitist Rebecer
Romario, she beat me by 2 seconds, the only other time I
have ridden against her I beat her by 1 second, I suppose
